Description
Reducing Exposure: DQ Files and DataQs in a High-Risk Environment
Join us for the OTSC September Meeting on September 10 at the Medallion Club in Westerville, featuring Anne-Marie Naples, a Senior Safety Consultant with Cottingham & Butler’s Safety Management Services Company (SMSC), for a practical presentation that examines DQ files and DataQs through both compliance and risk exposure lenses. Designed for safety managers and fleet operators, this session incorporates current expectations and emphasizes how documentation quality, timeliness, and consistency directly impact defensibility in the event of a crash or audit. The presentation connects regulatory requirements with real-world enforcement trends and common gaps seen in fleet reviews, providing attendees with clear, actionable steps to help strengthen both compliance posture and defensibility.
Key Takeaways:
- How incomplete, inconsistent, or outdated DQ file components can be used to support negligent hiring, retention, or supervision claims
- Practical distinctions between “technically compliant” files and truly qualified drivers, including red flags often missed during reviews
- Step-by-step guidance on auditing DQ files for risk, including high-impact documents such as MVRs, prior employer inquiries, and medical certifications
- How to effectively use DataQs to challenge inaccurate violations and crash records, with a focus on proper documentation and regulatory support
