OTA Institute: Compliance Review Training

Join us for a comprehensive Compliance Review Training hosted by the OTA on Thursday, September 26, at our headquarters in Westerville. Led by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), this full-day training provides a detailed exploration of the FMCSA/USDOT Compliance Review process.
The training breaks down the review process into segments aligned with the FMCSA Safety Management System's "BASIC(s)." Gain insights into the Cycle of a Roadside Inspection, understand the nuances of the SMS BASIC(s), and explore topics ranging from carrier-required documentation to investigations by BASIC (including unsafe driving, crash indicators, Hours of Service compliance, vehicle maintenance, Drug & Alcohol compliance, Hazardous Materials, and driver fitness).
This interactive session encourages attendees to actively participate by asking questions and voicing their comments and concerns. Attendees will receive a copy of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Handbook and supplemental handouts. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided. The price to attend this training is $249 for OTA members and $449 for non-members.

About the Trainers:
Joe Frilling works for the PUCO as a Hazardous Materials Investigation Specialist, focusing on compliance review, safety audits and roadside inspections. Prior to joining the PUCO, he was a full-time roadside CMV inspector with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Mark Banks is based out of Franklin County and has 13 years of experience with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). Most of his tenure has been in the Transportation Compliance Division, issuing civil penalties for compliance reviews and roadside inspections in Ohio. Before becoming a field investigator nearly a year ago, he conducted new entrant safety audits.
Devin Hellyer began working with the state of Ohio in 2021 and transitioned to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) in September 2023. Prior to joining the state, Devin gained extensive experience as a traveling technician, working across the lower 48 states.

- You will receive a 100% refund if you cancel more than 10 days before the training.
- You will receive a 75% refund if you cancel more than 3 days before the training.
- You will receive no refund if you cancel less than 3 days before the training.
- No-shows will be responsible to pay 100% of the registration fee.
