OTA Institute: Cargo Load Securement Training

Join us on Wednesday, October 22, at the OTA headquarters in Westerville for an in-depth Cargo Load Securement Training led by Ohio State Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Enforcement Manager Brandon Evans. This training offers an in-depth guide to proper procedures and protocols for securing cargo on flatbed trucks, including:

  • Regulatory requirements per 49 CFR Section 392.9 and Part 393, Subpart I
  • Pre-trip and en-route loading, inspection, and securement duties
  • Differences between direct and indirect tiedown methods
  • Tiedown devices’ restraining capacity and impact on securement
  • Minimum tiedown requirements and exceeding standards
  • Techniques for flatbed-specific securement
  • Cargo securement’s impact on Compliance, Safety, and Accountability (CSA)

Participants will receive a Cargo Securement Handbook, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Handbook, Out-of-Service Criteria Handbook and supplemental materials valued at over $115. Breakfast and lunch are included. Pricing is $279 for OTA members and $479 for non-members.

About the Trainer:
Brandon Evans, based in Central Ohio, serves as the Motor Carrier Enforcement Manager for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He began his career with the Patrol in 2012 as a dispatcher and he quickly advanced to the role of Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector later that same year. Through a series of promotions, Evans earned his current leadership role, where he oversees motor carrier operations and enforcement efforts as well as licensing and commercial standards.

Refund Policy:
Our refund policy is as follows:

  • You will receive a 100% refund if you cancel more than 10 days before the training.
  • You will receive a 75% refund if you cancel more than 3 days before the training.
  • You will receive no refund if you cancel less than 3 days before the training.
  • No-shows will be responsible to pay 100% of the registration fee.
