Join us on Wednesday, August 20 from 10am-11am for an impactful Level Up session focused on mental health, emotional regulation, and substance use in the trucking industry. 

Led by Ruth Bowdish—an experienced workplace safety consultant, licensed counselor, and substance use expert—this training is designed for safety managers, HR professionals, and frontline leaders who want to better support their drivers beyond compliance.

Behind every logbook is a human story, and today’s workforce challenges require a deeper understanding of the emotional load many drivers carry. This session breaks down the connection between stress, burnout, and substance misuse, and provides actionable tools for recognizing early warning signs and offering effective, respectful support.

Key topics include:

  • How emotional dysregulation contributes to safety risks, burnout, and substance misuse
  • Identifying early behavioral signs of mental health struggles before they impact performance
  • Practical, non-clinical strategies for mental wellness and early intervention
  • Creating a culture of trust: shifting from silence and stigma to open support
  • Sample scripts and referral pathways supervisors can use with confidence

This session is not about blame or buzzwords—it’s about giving leaders the insight and tools they need to create a safer, more supportive workplace.


About the Presenter:

As the Managing Director for On Demand Occupational Medicine, Ruth Bowdish brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to all she does. A published author, licensed counselor, and successful life coach, she is a sought-after expert by media outlets and leaders alike. Her two decades of leadership experience and dedication to occupational health and safety make her an invaluable asset to any team. Ruth is a passionate advocate for mental health and addiction recovery, combining her graduate degree in psychology with multiple certifications in employee assistance and substance abuse counseling.
