The OTA is hosting a two-part Financial Insights training on Wednesday, October 30. Led by the experts at Schneider Downs, this comprehensive training is designed to enhance your financial acumen and provide valuable tools for better business decision-making.

Session 1: Mastering Financial Reporting and Tax Return Interpretation
Wednesday, October 30, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Financial Reporting 101:

  • Learn how to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Understand important financial ratios crucial for business decision-making.
  • Discover how to incorporate KPIs and data into your business strategy.

Translating Financial Statements to a Tax Return:

  • Gain skills in reading and interpreting various tax returns (1120, 1120-S, or 1065).
  • Stay updated on the latest legislative tax changes.

Session 2: Value Creation & M&A Activity in the Trucking Industry
Wednesday, October 30, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Enhancing Company Value:

  • Explore strategies for value creation and M&A activities specifically in the trucking industry.

Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your financial knowledge and drive your business forward. Individual sessions are $129 for OTA members and $179 for non-members. Attend both sessions for $199 for OTA members and $299 for non-members. All sessions will be hosted at the Ohio Trucking Association headquarters in Westerville and include lunch. Attendees can attend one or both sessions. 

About the Trainers:

Session 1 Trainers:

Doug, with 17 years of experience, leads engagements across various industries such as construction, manufacturing, and retail. His expertise includes technical accounting, auditing, and business consulting, with a strong focus on internal controls and financial reporting.

Sarah E. Hoagland, CPA
Senior Manager—Tax Advisory Services
Sarah has seven years of experience in tax advisory, serving privately-held corporations, partnerships, and individuals. Her focus is on tax planning, research, and compliance, especially within the automotive, real estate, and retail sectors.

Carl D. Scharf, CPA
Shareholder—Tax Advisory Services
Carl brings 17 years of experience in tax advisory, working with family-owned businesses and high-net-worth individuals. His expertise includes strategic tax planning and organizational restructuring for industries like automotive, logistics, and construction.

Thomas L. Springer
Shareholder—Schneider Downs Capital, LLC
Tom, with over 20 years of experience, excels in strategic planning, business development, and M&A advisory. His background includes international assignments and C-level leadership, focusing on maximizing enterprise value and preparing for liquidity events.

Refund Policy:
Our refund policy is as follows:

  • You will receive a 100% refund if you cancel more than 10 days before the training.
  • You will receive a 75% refund if you cancel more than 3 days before the training.
  • You will receive no refund if you cancel less than 3 days before the training.
  • No shows are responsible for 100% of the registration fees.

Time

  • Session 1 on Mastering Financial Reporting and Tax Interpretation will run from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
  • Session 2 on Value Creation & M&A Activity in the Trucking Industry will run from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
