The OTA is hosting a two-part training on Optimizing Workplace Safety - Strategies for Managing Workers’ Comp Claims and Fostering an Effective Workplace on Tuesday, July 9. Led by industry veteran Philip Heebsh, Shareholder at Roetzel & Andress, this training offers a comprehensive toolkit for navigating workers’ compensation claims and cultivating a safe, productive workplace environment.

Part 1: Navigating Workers’ Comp Claims

• Understanding Ohio workers’ comp rules: Gain insights into the specific regulations governing workers’ compensation in Ohio, ensuring compliance and effective claims management.
• Claims management strategies: Learn practical approaches for handling workers’ comp claims efficiently and effectively, minimizing disruptions and optimizing outcomes.
• Fraud prevention: Discover proactive measures to identify and mitigate fraudulent claims, safeguarding the integrity of the workers’ comp process and minimizing financial losses.
  

Part 2: Cultivating an Effective Workplace

This engaging session focuses on fostering a safe and inclusive workplace culture, addressing key topics such as:

• Preventing sexual harassment: Explore best practices for preventing and addressing incidents of sexual harassment in the workplace, promoting a respectful and harassment-free environment.
• Non-DOT drug and alcohol policy: Navigate the complexities of drug and alcohol policies outside of DOT regulations, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and industry standards.
• Mental health awareness: Enhance your understanding of mental health issues in the workplace, and learn strategies for promoting mental well-being and providing support to employees.
• Workplace safety initiatives: Explore proactive measures and strategies for enhancing workplace safety, including risk assessment, hazard identification, and employee training.
  

Individual sessions are $149 for OTA members and $199 for non-members. Attend both sessions for $249 for OTA members and $399 for non-members. All sessions will be hosted at the Ohio Trucking Association headquarters in Westerville and include lunch. Attendees can attend one or both parts of the compliance training.

About the Trainer:
Phillip Heebsh is a Shareholder at Roetzel & Andress. Phil helps clients – trucking and transportation companies, manufacturers, retailers, and more – respond to accidents and injuries. A member of Roetzel’s Emergency Response and Crisis Management Team, he makes himself available 24 hours a day to rapidly respond to client emergencies and bring order and certainty to chaos.

Clients rely on Phil’s clear explanations and guidance to understand their liability. They count on him to quickly get to accident sites to assess responsibilities, preserve evidence, and protect their employees from the moment authorities and regulators get involved. They trust him to successfully defend their rights – at the negotiating table and in the courtroom – when situations turn contentious. Phil has particular strengths in resolving workers' compensation matters, primarily for self-insured employers, and working with clients to design and implement safety programs that reduce risk and prevent workplace injuries. In addition, he regularly conducts risk and liability reviews for corporate clients throughout the United States, including in particular to establish claim reporting and litigation preparedness protocols.

Before starting law school, Phil worked full-time in an industrial heat treat facility where he ran vacuum furnaces and learned firsthand the implications of rigorous workplace safety.

• You will receive a 75% refund if you cancel more than 3 days before the training.
• You will receive no refund if you cancel less than 3 days before the training.
• No shows are responsible for 100% of the registration fees.
